It Is Well With My Soul

Life is full of unexpected challenges, and sometimes, it feels like the weight of the world is on our shoulders. In early 2021, I found myself in the midst of a social media and news attack, where false information about me regarding the oil & gas market was being spread in a gossip-like manner.

In April 2021, there was another false news released and someone used that fake information to sue me. The news was reported by almost every news outlet. As someone who had never experienced such public scrutiny, My world was crumbling around me.

The baseless and malicious fabrications that tarnish my reputation spread rapidly and can only be compared to a raging inferno. These false news would have you believe that I, in the depths of despair, contemplated ending my own life. But let me make one abundantly clear: as a devout follower of Jesus Christ, I could never fathom surrendering to such darkness. No, I chose to cling to my faith with unyielding fervor, seeking solace in the arms of the Almighty.

Tears streamed down my face as I pleaded for His divine intervention, begging Him to quell the agony festering within. Desperation consumed me, and in a moment of sheer desperation, I pounded on my chest, hoping that the physical pain might somehow alleviate the torment devouring my soul. Oh, the lengths I went to in my searing anguish, striving to find respite from the relentless ache that tormented me within.

Yet, unbeknownst to those who propagated these falsehoods, their words only served to fortify my determination to persevere.

On May 1st, 2021, a year ago today, I was about to embark on a journey to Dubai for the International Participants Meeting for Expo Dubai, an event that was set to open its doors on October 1st, 2021.

As I sat at the departure gate in Chicago, feeling overwhelmed by the weight of negative online comments and contemplating canceling my plans, a wave of despair washed over me. The noise of the bustling crowd only added to my already troubled state of mind. But just when I thought I couldn’t bear it any longer, something unexpected happened.

A sense of calmness descended upon me, as if a higher power was reaching out to comfort me. It wasn’t a voice in the traditional sense, but a deep knowing that everything would be alright. In that moment repeating the words, “It is well with my soul.”

Was I hearing things?

The words echoed in my mind, bringing a sense of peace and clarity. In that moment, I realized that the Lord was encouraging me to find strength within myself and not to give up. Seeking solace in Him during these difficult times was pleasing to God.

The heavy burden that had weighed me down was suddenly lifted, and I knew deep within me that I had a purpose to fulfill.

As a Christian, I believe in the power of faith and the strength it can bring during challenging times. While thoughts of giving up and even suicide had crossed my mind, I knew deep down that those were not the answers. Instead, I found solace in my faith and the belief that there is a greater purpose for my life.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience in Dubai, as it proved to be transformative in more ways than one. Upon my return to the United States, it became evident that my time abroad had truly shaped me into a different individual. Moreover, not long after my arrival home, the court ruled in my favor, granting me victory in the lawsuit that had been brought against me. The court’s decision was reached expeditiously, a mere two and a half months following the initiation of the legal proceedings. Looking back now, I am grateful that I didn’t succumb to the pressure and cancel my participation at Expo Dubai. It turned out to be one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It was a testament to the fact that even in the face of adversity, there is always a glimmer of hope, and we must hold onto it with unwavering faith.

Adversity often serves as a catalyst for growth and self-discovery. It pushes us to tap into our inner strength and resilience, enabling us to rise above the challenges that come our way. While it may be tempting to give in to the voices of doubt and negativity, we must remember that our true worth is not determined by the opinions of others.

When faced with adversity, it is crucial to take a step back and reflect on our journey. What is our purpose? What are our values? These questions help us realign our focus and find the strength to persevere. It is during these trying times that we discover who we truly are and what we are capable of.

Furthermore, seeking solace in our faith can provide immense comfort and guidance. Turning to God in times of trouble allows us to find peace in His infinite wisdom and love. It is through our faith that we can find the strength to carry on, knowing that we are never alone in our struggles.

As I reflect on my own experience, I am reminded of the importance of resilience and determination. Adversity may knock us down, but it is up to us to rise again, stronger than ever. It is well with my soul because I have chosen to embrace the challenges as opportunities for growth and trust in the path that God has laid before me.

So, if you find yourself facing adversity, remember that you are not alone. Seek solace in your faith, reflect on your purpose, and find the strength within yourself to rise above the challenges. It may not always be easy, but with unwavering faith and determination, you can overcome anything that comes your way. It is well with your soul.
